The Omo Baba Olowo crooner stated that he originally intended to work as a producer but began singing after discovering that he was better than the artists he was recording.
He revealed this in a recent Forbes interview.
“I used to be a producer,” he explained. I’ve always desired to be in the background of things. So, I used to have an older cousin who was the family musician. My family’s final child is me. But back then, I was really adept with computers, technology, and other such things.
“So, when he told me he does music, I immediately went to YouTube to learn how to record music.” I bought a computer, software, and everything, and I began learning on YouTube. Then I began recording artists. One of my relatives, who is constantly with me in the studio, recognised if you are an artist and I am recording you. He saw that whenever the artist made a mistake, I would say, “Nah, don’t sing it like that, sing it like this.” Sing it this way; it will capture their attention more.’
“So, after a while of doing that, I was like, ‘Yo! I’m better than everyone I’m recording’. ‘You know, maybe I should record a song,’ I thought. “The first song I ever recorded went viral.”
