Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, bravely has shared his emotional journey through grief, revealing how he navigates the heartache of losing those closest to him.
Davido, is no stranger to being hurt having endured unimaginable losses throughout his life. The pain began early when he tragically lost his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, at just 11 years old—a wound that time could never fully heal.
More recently, the devastating loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, has left an even deeper scar. This tragedy was compounded by the untimely demise of his close associates such as Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and his personal photographer, Fortune, all of whom passed away in rapid succession.
In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, where he mesmerized the audience with a striking outfit that showcased his distinctive style, Davido opened up about the profound losses he has faced throughout his life.
In the emotional video, the ‘Unavailable’ crooner reflected on the heavy burden of losing so many loved ones. He shared how his unshakable faith has been his anchor, helping him navigate the pain and find strength amidst the tragedies.
“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’
“I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
Davido also dispelled misconceptions about his life and persona, emphasizing the significance of family and the divine gift of his talent.
“I think sometimes, people think I am not approachable. Another misconception is that people also think I am too accessible.
“I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given.”
