Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Afrobeats star Davido has responded to the child custody filed against her.
Glamsquad reported a few days back that Davido sought joint custody of his daughter, Imade Arora Adeleke alleging that Sophia was denying him access to their child and extorting money from him. He explained that although he once had a relationship with Sophia Momodu, it ended years ago, and they had agreed to co-parent their child.
However, this arrangement has not been successful. Davido also claimed that Sophia rejected his offer of a house and demanded that he pay a monthly rent of N5 million for her accommodation, among other expenses.
Responding to the lawsuit, Sophia spilled about her affair with Davido from 2020-2022, while he was dating Chioma. She claimed that the singer had abandoned Imade because she refused to have a sexual relationship with him.

Sophia refuted his claims of denying him access to their daughter, stating that Davido has never tried to meet with Imade. According to her statement, Sophia ended the relationship in July 2022, and since then, Davido has been harassing her because she refused to comply with his demands.
Her press release dated June 22, 2024, and issued by her legal representatives, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co, was exclusively obtained by Pulse Nigeria.
“Sophia ended the relationship with David in July 2022. Since then, David has repeatedly threatened to make Sophia’s life miserable if she does not make herself available to him sexually.
“Sophia has never denied him the opportunity to see his daughter. He has not reached out on special occasions such as her birthday or Christmas for the past two years, which has left his daughter distressed and questioning why her father has cut contact with her.
Despite this, David posts images of her on social media to falsely portray himself as a supportive and active father.
“Since July 2022, David has not fulfilled his financial responsibilities towards their daughter, leaving her school fees unpaid.”
Recall that since Davido moved on from Sophia to his now wife, Chioma, there has been ongoing conflict. Sophia has accused Davido of financially abusing her and labelled him a deadbeat father.
Their drama also caused a rift between Davido and his friend and colleague, Tiwa Savage. Her ex-partner, Tee Billz, criticized Davido for disrespecting them, calling him a deadbeat father and supporting Sophia’s claims. Tiwa Savage even sent Davido a Threat to Life letter, alleging repeated instances of bullying. Additionally, Sophia served him with a cease and desist letter, citing incidents of online bullying and harassment.
