Courteney Cox’s preferred way to spend her Friday? In a hot tub with her future co-star David Beckham. “Too hot in the hot tub!” the Friends actress captioned a post of herself soaking with the 44-year-old.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the final season of the hit comedy will see Cox and Beckham guest star on an episode centred around a celebrity bowling tournament – with both stars playing themselves. Inevitably, hilarity ensues when the pair get caught up in a family drama that somehow involves “aerobics classes, a terrifying pool slide, and three side-by-side hot tubs”. What else?
Cox neglected to confirm whether she was in fact on set when the photo was taken – but Beckham’s own Instagram page seems to confirm it, with the football legend posting an image of himself reading a script with his “new FRIEND”. Fellow celebrities were quick to react, with Victoria Beckham posting a supportive “I can’t wait!!!!!!” on her husband’s page. The Beckhams are long-term fans of Modern Family, with VB sharing a family portrait of them on set back in 2017. As for Jennifer Aniston’s reaction to the hot tub snap? “Wait….WHAT’S HAPPENING?!!??” she wrote on Cox’s account with a Rachel Green-worthy level of hysteria.
Fans – including Aniston – will have to wait for Modern Family to return in the beginning of 2020 to see the results of Cox and Beckham’s on-set collaboration. Of course, the Morning Show star made her triumphant Instagram debut earlier this month – crashing the platform with a selfie featuring all six of Friends’ original cast members. Her next trick? Sharing an adorable childhood portrait and bursting the Instagram illusion with a well-chosen Notting Hill reference. Turns out the ultimate ’90s gang is taking to millennial life quite nicely.
