American comedian, Bob Newhart’s wife, Ginnie passed away after a protracted fight with an unknown illness. She was 82.
Jerry Digney, her publicist, confirmed the news to People on Monday, adding that she “passed away Sunday, April 23rd, after a long illness.”

The “Elf” actor, 93, also shared the tragic news on Twitter, adding, “She was our rock and we miss her terribly.”
Julia Duffy, Bob’s “Newhart” co-star, paid tribute to Ginnie after the news broke, calling her a “funny, candid” woman with a “huge heart.”
“Gave me the best advice in everything from decorating to childbirth and children and yes, husbands,” she tweeted. “I loved her. RIP Ginnie Newhart heart.”
The couple, who recently marked their 60th wedding anniversary, were paired together on a blind date by mutual friend and fellow comic, Buddy Hackett.
The pair share children Robert Jr., Timothy, Courtney and Jennifer, as well as 10 grandchildren.
