Mark Sheehan, a guitarist and co-founder of The Script, passed away on Friday after a brief illness. He was 46.
“Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness,” the Irish rock group wrote in a statement posted to their Instagram on Friday.

“The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”
The Script was created in 2001 by the late musician, his childhood buddy Danny O’Donoghue, 42, who served as the group’s lead vocalist and keyboardist, and drummer Glen Power, 41.
Mark Sheehan is survived by his wife, Reena Sheehan and his three children.
