Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma has shared his opinion on the use of physical punishment as a means of correcting children.

In a recent appearance on the podcast “The Honest Bunch,” Bovi stressed that children should not be subjected to physical harm, regardless of their actions.

The father of three challenged the effectiveness of physical punishment as a corrective tool, implying it often stems from frustration rather than a sincere intent to educate or guide.

He urged parents and caregivers to explore alternative methods of discipline.

Bovi also condemned granting senior students the authority to discipline their juniors in schools. He argued that this approach can lead to issues and called for a more supportive and structured system.

“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. When you hit a kid, are you really trying to correct them or are you frustrated?”

No child should be given authority over another child in the name of ‘senior student’. It really has to stop.”

Bovi also recalled how his son broke the Television set in his house three times without using beating as a form of punishment. He however noted that his son who is now older is always remorseful for his actions.

Marriage

In other news, Bovi reveals why he considers himself fortunate in marriage.

In an interview with media personality VJ Adams, Bovi shared his thoughts on love and marriage, admitting that luck plays a significant role before any form of planning comes into the picture. He credited much of his marital success to being fortunate.

Bovi explained that while he doesn’t take himself too seriously, he isn’t immune to challenges or moments of worry. Over time, he has adopted a philosophy of living one day at a time, which helps him navigate life’s complexities. The comedian also emphasized that no marriage is perfect but believes true harmony comes from embracing and loving each other’s imperfections.

Reflecting on his approach to relationships, Bovi revealed he wouldn’t remain in an environment that feels unwelcoming or unfulfilling. This, he explained, underscores why he considers himself lucky in his marriage.
