CHECK OUT THE BEAUTIFUL DRESS MADE OUT OF GREEN ALGAE
2020 indeed wowed us with different creativity, styles and inspiration. One thing we saw this year is the coming together of science and fashion, which has resulted in the making of the beautiful sequin dress made from green algae.
Philip Lim has worked with Charlotte McCurdy a researcher and designer to create a dress from macroalgae.
Usually, sequins are made from plastic which makes them harmful to the environment. However, Philip and Charlotte have come up with an alternative — to create something biodegradable but still strong enough to wear.
Again, we saw Dao- Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne partner with as assistant professor at FIT, Dr. Theanne Schiros to make a shoe from fermented bacteria.
