Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., better known as Shatta Wale originally Bandana, is a Ghanaian-born reggae-dancehall artist born on October 17, 1984 to Charles Mensah Snr and Mama Elsie.

After graduating from high school, Shatta Wale changed his name to “Bandana” and recorded the smash single “Bandana from Ghana.” In 2004, the song created huge ripples in the Ghanaian music business. Shatta Wale’s unexpected rise to the occasion occurred at the 2013 VGMA awards, when he screamed lyrical insults at the VGMA because he claimed they stole him of the Dancehall artist of the year title, which he said was given to a female Dancehall musician named “Kaakie.” Despite the song’s obscene lyrics, it was widely anticipated by the media, resulting in his artistic breakthrough.
