Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has appointed Bianca Ojukwu as the secretary of the 15-man Truth, Justice and Peace Committee newly set up to help address rising cases of agitation, insecurity, and other challenges in the state.

However, the committee will be chaired by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu.

Other members of the committee include; Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, Dr. Udenta Udenta, Dr. Uju Agomoh, Rev. Fr Jerome Madueke, Canon Okechukwu Obi-Okoye and Mr. Charles Oputa (Charly Boy).

Others are: Dr John Otu, Mr Ngozi Odumuko, Ms Onyeka Onwenu, Dr Joe Abah Mr Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, Mr Sam Egwuatu and Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu.

A deadline of six months has been set by Secretary of State Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu.

Restorative justice is an approach that emphasizes revealing the truth and getting to the heart of what happened so that those who have been harmed by violence can recover, according to one member of the committee.

According to him, the committee’s goal is to discover the root reasons of the unrest, unrest, bloodshed, and armed conflict that have plagued the South East of the country since 1999.

Committee members are expected to document victims and the circumstances of death, brutality, and imprisonment.

“Identify stakeholders and groups who have played critical roles in the agitations and conflicts, their roles, capabilities, and demands.”

He further added that the committee would address any other issues that may be germane to unraveling the extent of the crisis and charting the roadmap for the future.

“Make recommendations for sustainable peace and security in Anambra state and South-East,” the SSG stated.
