With apologies to the late, great Karl Lagerfeld, that resort 2008 event had nothing on the spectacle put on by the house tonight at the Paramount Studios lot for resort 2024, with stars like Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart, Riley Keough, Issa Rae, and Marion Cotillard lighting up the front row, and a post-show performance by none other than native Angeleno Snoop Dogg. There was a handful of striking WGA members outside the lot, among the celebrity observers, encouraging showgoers to “tell Paramount to give writers a fair deal.”

Ahead of Viard’s concert, cinematic billboards announcing it as a “One Night Only” event appeared throughout town, emphasizing Chanel’s embeddedness in LA’s dominating culture. (Speaking of brand power, Chanel was also busy preparing for the Met Gala in New York, which recognized Lagerfeld’s multi-decade career.)
