Celine Dion Steps Out In Beautiful Opera Coat

Celine Dion is back in full force – and so is her eclectic wardrobe. The French-Canadian singer just debuted a new music video for her single “Courage”, is releasing a new album of the same name on Friday, and will embark on a world tour next week. But in the midst of juggling her new projects, Dion hasn’t forgotten how to serve up a bold fashion moment. On a winter’s day in New York this week, the singer championed the return of the opera coat – a Marc Jacobs opera coat, to be precise.

Leaving her practical puffer at home, the fashion fan opted instead for a more unexpected outerwear choice. This style of dramatic, floor-length cloak was popular in the 1800s, when it was worn as an evening garment, often tied over a gown and trimmed with ornate beads or fur. Dion’s style was a modern-day interpretation by Marc Jacobs, designed in black silk with a punchy floral print, and finished with a large, oversized hood. The zingy yellow dress beneath also played up the statement piece’s vibrant colour scheme.

Dion styled her cape with simple, polished accessories, including a white-top handle bag, sleek black patent pumps by Gianvito Rossi, and cat-eye sunglasses. Not forgetting the finishing touch, a posy of flowers peeking from her handbag – in coordinating yellow, of course.
