Celeste Pays Homage To Her Soul Heroes In Gucci At The Brits

When the Brits crowned Celeste its Rising Star of 2020, Gucci took note. The brand sent talent scouts incognito to watch the soul ingénue perform her unique strand of soul that is simultaneously hauntingly romantic and cheerfully upbeat.

Team Gucci experienced the same goosebumps as music insiders – the 25 year old is BBC Music’s  Sound of 2020 – and invited her to mine its archive for pieces to wear on stage.

“Gucci has a particular energy that suits Celeste,” her stylist, Ella Lucia, tells British Vogue prior to the Brit Awards. “The romance of the brand chimes with her music and the themes she explores in her lyrics.

They both like talking about love!” For her moment on the red carpet in London’s 02 stadium alongside Harry Styles – the king of Gucci – Celeste tapped into the preppy end of creative director Alessandro Michele’s spectrum, as opposed to the all-out maximalist one. She and Lucia decided upon a bead and pearl-encrusted shirt dress, which Lucia teamed with black lace gloves, bee earrings, a ladylike bag and platforms to “cut through the classicism and mix up the decades”.
