The return of the backpack isn’t anything new, but Burberry’s Rucksack (debuted on the spring 2016 runway) is having a moment thanks to Taylor Swift, Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne, who’ve all carried it. Australian actress Margot Robbie, who has a cameo in The Big Short, most recently sported one while arriving at London’s Heathrow airport Jan. 25.
The nylon and leather bag costs $1,295 and comes in four colors — black, navy, dark red and army green — with black being the most coveted. It’s part of the designer’s “Functionregalia” collection, aka both functional and cool status-worthy. But what makes The Rucksack stand apart from every other nylon backpack is an optional monogram.
As with the brand’s personalized cashmere scarves, you can make the backpack your own with the addition of up to three gold-and-black varsity letters just like TS, SW, CJD and MR.
