Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, a chef from Nigeria, has beaten the record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” set by the Guinness Book of World Records.
On Monday morning, the chef broke the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held by Lata Tondon, the current holder of the Guinness World Record.
Hilda kicked off the competition on Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
As the first person ever to spend so much time cooking, Hilda continues to cook for 96 hours despite having already shattered the previous record.
Hilda has continued to receive a wave of support from government officials, celebrities, clerics, and other well-meaning Nigerians.
Earlier, Hilda had received well wishes from Chef Tondon, who had previously held the record for “longest cooking time.”
