Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has filed a N1.2 billion lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and National Assembly for allegedly violating his fundamental rights.
Bobrisky took to his Instagram to disclose details of a lawsuit he filed at the Federal High Court of Nigeria, seeking an injunction to prevent the EFCC and other security agencies from harassing, arresting, detaining, or declaring him wanted.
However, despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Bobrisky accused EFCC operatives of assaulting him and forcibly removing him from a plane moments before takeoff, describing the incident as a gross violation of his rights. Sharing his ordeal in a series of Instagram posts,
The crossdresser further alleged that other Nigerian security agencies operated above the law, claiming that the Minister of Interior directed his arrest and detention by the Nigerian Immigration Service and the Nigerian Police. Bobrisky stated that these actions, executed without a court order, worsened his health condition and underscored a disregard for due process.
Bobrisky also criticized the agencies for their alleged disregard for ongoing court proceedings.
“Notwithstanding the earlier filing of this fundamental rights matter, the EFCC still violently assaulted and harassed me and pulled me out of a plane set for takeoff.
“The EFCC and other security agencies in Nigeria are violators of human rights. It is high time the world and the international community got to know about their trademark of rights violations.
“It is a shame that the EFCC does not respect the court. Neither does any security agency—they act above the law they claim to protect and implement.”
Glamsquad recalls that Bobrisky’s woes started when controversial self acclaimed activist, VeryDarkMan shared a audio recording in which the former alleged to have paid EFCC officials ₦15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.
Bobrisky, who had been sentenced to six months in prison on April 12 for naira abuse, was released on August 5.
In the purported recording, the crossdresser also claimed that his “godfather”, alongside Haliru Nababa, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, ensured he served the six-month sentence in a private apartment and not in prison.
The crossdresser, however, denied the recording’s authenticity, threatening legal action against VeryDarkMan.
The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions resolved to probe the bribery allegation.
The House also invited VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky, Ola Olukoyode, EFCC chairman, and Nababa to appear before the committee.
