Blue Ivy Carter becomes youngest Grammy Awards nominee in history

At just 8 years old, Blue Ivy Carter has a more impressive résumé than ‘most’ established music stars.

Earlier in the year, the rising star nabbed her first-ever BET Award — and became the youngest to win in the award show’s history — for being featured on her mom Beyoncé’s song “Brown Skin Girl” from The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack album. The uplifting anthem, which also features Saint Jhn and Wizkid, won the 2020 BET Her Award, which honors neo-soul and traditional R&B artists.

The young star has made yet another milestone in her very young but yet shining music career as she has become the youngest nominee of the prestigious Grammy Awards for her contribution to “Brown Skin Girl.”

Despite being just a child, Blue Ivy has already established quite the recording career. She’s appeared on her father, Jay-Z’s songs “Glory” and “Family Feud,” while also guesting on her mother’s tracks “Daddy Lessons” and “Blue.” She appeared with both of them on their joint project, The Carters, on “SALUD!” and “BOSS” as well.

Blue Ivy also featured in the video for “Spirit,” another Beyoncé track from the Lion King. Beyoncé both appeared in the movie as Nala and also curated a soundtrack album called The Lion King: The Gift, which featured Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Tierra Whack.
