Australian-born American billionaire, Keith Rupert Murdoch has called off his engagement to his girlfriend, Ann Lesley Smith two weeks after announcing that he was due to be married again.
According to US magazine Vanity Fair, sources close to the 92-year-old media mogul disclosed that he and Ann Lesley Smith had “abruptly” called off the ceremony.
Glamsquad reported weeks back that The wedding was set for this summer, less than a year after Murdoch finalized his divorce from his fourth wife, model, Jerry Hall.
He was previously married to Jerry Hall, Wendi Murdoch, Anna Murdoch Mann, and Patricia Booker.
During their announcement of their upcoming nuptials, Smith, who is 66 years old, expressed her enthusiasm for the compatibility between her and Rupert, stating that she “speaks Rupert’s language”. She also mentioned that this is not her first experience with a long-term relationship.
Meanwhile, the businessman said he proposed to the former police chaplain with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire on St. Patrick’s Day.
Then, Mr Murdoch said:
“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love – but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy.”
With a net worth of £13.9 billion, Murdoch is the father of six children. His first wife, Patricia Booker, bore him a daughter named Prudence MacLeod. He had a second wife, Anna Mann, with whom he had a daughter named Elisabeth and sons named Lachlan and James. Finally, with his third wife, Wendi Deng, he shares two daughters named Chloe and Grace.
In January, their rapid and intense romance made the news when they were seen vacationing together in Barbados.
Rupert and Ann Lesley first encountered each other in September 2022 at his Moraga vineyard in California. Just a fortnight later, the media mogul contacted his new love interest over the phone to propose marriage.
Ann Lesley referred to their relationship as a “God-given gift” and shared that they share similar beliefs.
Recently, she was observed wearing an engagement ring adorned with an 11-carat diamond, which is speculated to be valued at around $2.5 million.
