On Sunday night, Beyoncé surprised us with a trailer for her upcoming visual album, “Black Is King”, which highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence.
According to a statement from the 38-year-old star’s camp, the self-written, directed and executive produced project will be released on Disney+ next month and will premiere globally on July 31 on the streaming service.
Bey’s new visual album is based on the music from The Lion King: The Gift, and features artists and special guest appearances. It “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”
“Black Is King is an affirmation of a grand purpose, with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture,” a statement read in the press release.
