Miss Universe first runner-up, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, has shared her thoughtful perspective on the dynamics of respect and likability.
In her view, being respected holds greater significance than simply being liked. She explained that respect is rooted in recognizing a person’s values, character, and accomplishments, while being liked often depends on fleeting impressions or surface-level charm.
Chidimma believes that respect fosters deeper connections and leaves a lasting legacy, emphasizing that it’s better to be admired for one’s principles than to chase temporary approval.
The beauty Queen made this remark while answering a question from one of the judges during the finals of the 73rd Miss Universe Competition, held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City early Sunday morning.
She said,
“I feel like being respected is more important than being liked. We live in a society where we often don’t feel respected because of who we are, and I feel like when you respect yourself, you respect others around you and respect is really important.”
While Chidimma emerged as the first runner-up, Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig was crowded winner if Miss Universe 2024.
