Anne Hathaway is a rare sighting on the red carpet nowadays, but when she does appear to flash her megawatt smile at the cameras, she gives seriously good gown. The actor interrupted her maternity leave (she recently gave birth to her second child with husband Adam Shulman) to fly the flag for Modern Love, the Amazon drama based on the long-running The New York Times column, at the Critics’ Choice Awards. She served up classic Hathaway: a feminine look with a sculptural element. But this time, with an Old Hollywood twist.
The actor’s dazzling turn is partly thanks to a new stylist: Erin Walsh, who has a string of younger stars, including Beanie Feldstein, on her roster. It’s also down to the gown. Hathaway chose a statuesque Atelier Versace design dripping in gold sequins, which she accented with Messika jewellery. “Hot damn,” said Walsh via Instagram. “And excuse me, this woman just had a baby #superwoman #micdrop #ICON.”
