As part of the future upgrades to Google’s mobile operating system, Android 13’s new rumoured feature could allow a single eSIM to run two different carriers at the same time.

Android 13 Leak: New eSIM Feature

According to PhoneArena, Google has yet to reveal what will be included in Android 13 during its annual developer conference in May. However, a new leak says that it has something to do with doing away with sim cards entirely.

It’s worth noting that there have been various leaks regarding the next Android version.

One of which has already said that Android 13 would include more choices for regulating the flashlights on mobile devices that run it.

Another report suggests a new notification feature that allows users to just slide it to open it in split-screen mode.

However, the most recent report on the impending Android 13 specifically mentions a significant boost to eSIMs.

Dual eSIM Support on Android 13

According to the leak seen by Mishaal Rahman of the Esper Blog, Google has already patented a way to end the limitation of eSIMs, which will first see the light of day on Android 13.

The leak claims that the search engine tech giant is currently working on an option to allow Android users to use a single eSIM chip to run two carriers at the same time, giving it a dual sim treatment.

For the uninitiated, eSIM is used as a digital alternative for physical SIM cards. It works as a chip in the internals of a smartphone, which only allows a single carrier or subscriber line.

But Google is said to have been working on a way to let two carriers at once in a single eSIM chip, which should provide Android users with dual SIM support in the future.

It is interesting to point out that Google was first granted with the dual eSIM support technology way back in 2020, according to a recent story by Tom’s Guide.

But a recent leak is saying that the tech giant is planning to include it in the release of Android 13 sometime this 2022.
