Alleged Rape: Nigerian Celebrities Blast Yomi Fabiyi For Sympathizing With Baba Ijesha

It is no longer news that popular Yoruba actor Olarenwaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha has recently been on the headlines for the wrong reasons.

On, April 22, it was reported that the Lagos State police command arrested the actor for allegedly raping a minor.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said preliminary findings revealed that the suspect allegedly began sexually assaulting the victim, 14 since she was 7-years-old.

Following the reveal, fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi had taken to the gram to Sympathize with his colleague, “defending his honor”. However, Nigerian celebrities are not taking the matter lightly as they have throng various social media platforms to lambastes Yomi Fabiyi for “supporting rape culture”

Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, alias Davido has weighed in on the ongoing rape case of Baba Ijesha.

The DMW label head took to his Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon to share a photo of actor Yomi Fabiyi.

He wrote as caption:

“Bitch it’s on sight 👀”

Fabiyi has been made to feel the heat after he stated via his Instagram page that Baba Ijesha should not be canceled over unverified claims.

Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has taken to her Instagram Live to drag her colleague, actor Yomi Fabiyi over his statement regarding the rape case involving Baba Ijesha and the 14-year-old minor.

During the Live video, the actress said that Fabiyi is the reason she had to make the video asking her colleagues in the Yoruba movie sector to stop defending Baba Ijesha without making their proper findings, especially because a minor is involved.

The actress laid curses on Fabiyi and other actors who have subtly defended Baba Ijesha by asking to see the CCTV footage.

Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa has reacted to the comments by actor Yomi Fabiyi regarding the rape case involving Baba Ijesha and the 14-year-old minor revealed to be popular comedian, Princess’ foster child.

The on-air personality and vlogger took to her Twitter page on Wednesday evening to describe Fabiyi as a disgrace for trying to defend Baba Ijesha despite the fact that the actor is said to be in police detention after confessing to the crime.

“Yomi Fabiyi is a disgrace, a complete idiot, one of the reasons why the fight against sexual violence gets harder by the day, you want to see a video first even when you know she is a minor? Even after you heard he confessed? What is wrong with the world??? I cannot can’t.”
