Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Annie Idibia is in the spotlight after shocking claims that she tried to stab her husband, music icon, Innocent Idibia better known as 2Baba, and even poison him during their troubled marriage.
The shocking allegations, said to stem from years of emotional turmoil caused by 2Baba’s alleged infidelities, have left fans and critics in shock.
2Baba, famous for his legendary career and dramatic personal life took to his Instagram page on 26th January 2025 to announce his separation from Annie. Also, he noted that divorce proceedings have begun and their marriage of over a decade has come to an end.
Annie, who steadfastly supported 2Baba through numerous cheating scandals, often dismissing his actions to showcase her unwavering love, now faces accusations of violent retaliation, a twist that has cast a heavy cloud over their once-admired union.
Controversial Nigerian gossip blogger, Cutie Juls has added fuel to the fire, claiming that Annie’s alleged attempts on 2Baba’s life played a role in ending their marriage.
The blogger suggested that while Annie was fully aware of 2Baba’s womanizing ways before saying “I do,” her decision to marry him and endure his behavior created a toxic dynamic that ultimately led to their marital breakdown.
Cutie Juls further argued that both Annie and 2Baba are equally responsible for the collapse of their relationship, urging critics to approach the situation fairly instead of portraying either party as completely innocent.
“Awon feminist, we are all respecting and wishing the Idibias well. They are both culprits and victims at the same time. But if you people choose to bully the man, then the whole truth must come out in the plain.
“WTF… Y’all family and friends shouldn’t skip the fact that one of the couple has a low functioning organ and it was alleged it’s a result of poisoning from the home because of a suspected “cheating”.
“The last stabbing nearly ended fatal. The day they got married, Pero was 8 months pregnant for 2Baba. Annie knew about it before she accepted to be Mrs Idibia. 2face is a womaniser and everything but his wife isn’t a saint either.
“This “it’s either me or no one else” kind of marriage isn’t healthy. Both are culprits and victims at the same time”
In 2021, the Idibia marriage nearly crumbled when Annie publicly accused 2Baba of having an affair with his second baby mama, Pero Adeniyi. Despite the heated controversy, the couple managed to reconcile, and by 2023, 2Baba publicly apologized to Annie while renouncing his status as a role model.
Annie, in an emotional declaration, described 2Baba as more than just her husband, calling him her home, rest, heart, and safe haven. She affirmed their bond, saying he belongs to her as much as she belongs to him.
Looking back on the turmoil, Annie admitted she had no idea how she survived the scandal but credited it entirely to Grace.
