Afeni Shakur, mother of legendary rapper dies at 69

Afeni Shakur, the mother of late rapper Tupac Shakur died yesterday night in her Los Angeles home at the age of 69.  Police responded to Cardiac arrest reports around 9.30pm and took her to the hospital where she died.

She was a member of the Black Panther movement when she was younger and is said to almost have given birth to Tupac in prison but she got acquitted a month before.

Afeni Sakur Davis is the inspiration behind the late rapper’s “Dear mama” which was a mega hit in the Us and abroad. A song where he raps about his mother’s love and her struggles as a single mother.

She lost her son Tupac to an unsolved murder; a drive by shooting in 1996 while he was just 25 years old. After his death Afeni became the administrator of his estate which makes almost a million dollars a year. She released his posthumous albums and undertook charitable causes in memory of her son.
