Ade Bakare takes a refreshing fun risk with colourful print Ankara fabrics which ultimately brought an often rare vitality and freshness to his design.
Inspired by an old photo of his mum in the 1950’s, leading British- Nigerian couturier/designer pays homage to Lagos’ 50’s style, which was largely characterized by elegant A-line dresses in Christian Dior inspired bar length cuts.
Although totally different from the designers usual use of Silk, Chiffon, organza, the colourful collection shows conspicuous seams spread across the pieces, questions the designer’s often lauded attention to detail.
The collection is such a delight as the designer has been able to bring to life the classic A-line and wraps, infusing them in Ankara and Kampala fabrics.
They can be worn to cocktails and semi-formal events.
