Nicolas Ghesquière presented his Spring 2017 show for Louis Vuitton at Paris Fashion Week today. The brand left its usual locale of the Fondation Louis Vuitton for a space on the Place Vendôme, bringing its presentation—and many celebrity guests—into the center of the city. 1. Held in 2 Place Vendôme, Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2017 show was set up like a classic French salon. Guests sat on high-backed chairs in the windowed space, while models strutted down a concrete runway.
2. Many of Ghesquière’s muses and friends were in attendance, including Michelle Williams, Jennifer Connelly, Alicia Vikander, Miranda Kerr, and Catherine Deneuve.
3. The show opened with a series of bias-cut dresses with cut-outs around the waist and black ribbon fastenings.
4. Every season Louis Vuitton debuts a selection of new bag styles, but Spring’s most coveted item might be the Petite Malle phone case. Carried in lieu of a traditional bag, the case comes complete with a key-ring attachment.
5. The new LV shoe is a pointed-toe midi boot. The style was shown in an array of colors, from gold to black.
6. An ’80s spirit ran throughout the collection, noticed in some glittering cobalt pieces, the models’
jet-black turbans, and the gold Lurex sweatshirt and skinny pants worn by Kiki Willems.
7. Ghesquière’s favorite models all walked today, including Marte Mei van Haaster, Natalie Westling, Julia Nobis, Heather Kemesky, Rianne Van Rompaey, and Mica Arganaraz.
