Nigeria has claimed the 67th Grammy Awards spotlight this year, with all nominees in the Best African Music Performance category hailing from the country, reaffirming the country’s dominance in global music.
African Giant, Burna Boy returns to the race with a nomination for his hit “Higher,” while Asake joins forces with Wizkid on “MMS” for a shot at the award.
Davido secures his second nomination in the category, alongside Lojay, who earns his first Grammy nod for their collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.”
Phenomenal Mama Africa, Yemi Alade lands her first solo nomination for “Tomorrow,” while Tems secures her place with “Love Me Jeje,” capping off an all-star Nigerian lineup.
However Tems isn’t stopping there, she’s the only African artist with multiple nominations across global categories this year.
Her debut album ‘Born in the Wild’ is in the running for Best Global Music Album, alongside Rema, who is nominated for his sophomore album ‘HEIS’.
Tems also shines in the Best R&B Song category for her hit “Burning,” a standout track from her album that has resonated with listeners worldwide.
Shaboozey’s genre-blending influence gets a boost from the David Guetta remix, which earned a nomination for Best Remixed Recording. He also continues his Grammy journey with a nod for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his contribution to Beyoncé’s “Spaghetti.”
