3 CELEBRITIES CHAMPIONING ACNE POSITIVITY: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT.

The current quest for “glass skin” in the skin care community is as alarming as it is unrealistic. I, for one, have been waiting for the rest of the world to  see the glass skin trend for the serum and sheet mask marketing scam that most of the content truly is!

Quite a number of beauty influencers have whipped their followers into a frenzy of buying into all sorts of bizarre beauty trends to attain the myth that is perfect skin.

It is always pleasure to see the stars using their influence to break stereotypes and give their fans a peek behind the curtain of glam and makeup.
They have helped scores of women to see that flawlessness does not equate to beauty and scars are nothing to be ashamed of.

Three of such amazing celebrities are ;

Keke Palmer

Keke has been very open and raw with her audience about her battle with acne and post  inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We saw her at her lowest and saddest points and it is good to see her share her frustration just like everyone else. She continues to shine on the red carpet despite her ongoing battle to keep her face smooth.

Liquorose

Widely adored for her dancing and acting skills, BB Naija’s Liquorose fearlessly battled her acne and its attendant scars on her very fair skin. It was glaring that she was concerned but she took the bull by the horn and tried out a few Nigerian skincare brands. She found a product line that helped her reduce the signs of acne and it’s pesky breakouts to the barest minimum.

Liquorose has chosen not to tow the path of gatekeeping . She boldly shares the brands of products that make a difference on her face. She even went so far as to give away money to her fans who need skincare products and treatments. She is an acne busting warrior queen and we love to see it.

Paris Jackson

If Micheal Jackson’s daughter can conquer the acne blues, so can we! In July, Paris Jackson shared pictures to her social media, detailing her battle with cystic acne and the steps she has been taking to reduce her break outs.
She credits her skincare routine and her water filtration system for the progress she has seen so far.

 Body positivity and realistic skincare goals are important for women’s mental health and self esteem. It is wonderful to see our celebrities embrace the level of realness it takes to conquer the stigma of not having a flawless face.

Acne is often managed for life but it does not have to hold you down. Get your solid skincare routine and fend the spots off!
