With over 1000 movies produced yearly, the Nollywood industry has grown so rapidly that actors and actresses have made big names while creating life-long fortunes for themselves.
Glamsquad takes a look at the top ten richest actors and actresses in the Nollywood industry as of September 2022.
Genevieve Nnaji
With an estimated net worth of 15 million dollars Genevieve anandji is the richest Nollywood actress. The Victorian was the first actress to win the Africa movie Academy Award for best actress in a leading role in 2005. She was also honoured as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Government for our contributions in Nollywood in 2011.
Genevieve’s directorial debut movie, Lionheart, is the first Netflix film from Nigeria and the first Nigerian submission for the Oscars. However, the movie was disqualified for having most of its dialogue in English.
Funke Akindele
Nigerian actress and producer, Funke Akindele better known as Jenifa is worth 11 million dollars.
Funke started her career after starring in the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored sitcom “I Need to Know” which ran from 1998 to 2002. She played Bisi, a curious but highly intelligent secondary school student. She shot into stardom in 2008 when she appeared in the movie Jenifa. A sequel was released in 2011, and a spin-off television series “Jenifa’s Diary” was launched in 2014. She has starred in more than 100 moves and won numerous awards to her credit.
Her movie, Omo Ghetto: The Saga released in 2020, became Nigeria’s highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.

Mercy Johnson-Okojie
Mercy Johnson is worth 9 million dollars. She began her career in the movie industry in 2004 after she starred in “The Maid”. She subsequently gained popularity as she acted in other movies such as ‘Dumebi the Dirty Girl’. She won an award in 2013 for her role in the movie as Best Actress award. In 2011, she was listed as Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity, a position she also held in 2012.
Richard Mofe Damijo
Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, better known as RMD, is worth 7 million dollars. As a veteran in the industry, he has acted in several blockbusters.
RMD who is also a lawyer, writer, producer, and former journalist makes a living through acting and brand endorsement. He once worked as a commissioner of culture and tourism in Delta State between 2005 to 2009. The classy and stylish sexagenarian has also won several awards to his credit.
Jim Iyke
James Ikechukwu Esomugha better known as Jim Iyke is worth 5 million dollars.
Often regarded as Nollywood bad boy, he began his acting career in 2001 and won several awards to his name. He makes money through acting, producing, brand endorsement, and running his businesses.
