Upcoming Afro pop singer Waliyah released her single ‘Nonsense’ July 8th 2014.
July 7th 2014, she dropped by Cool 96.9FM on the ‘Good Morning Nigeria Show With Mannie’, she elaborated on her music career, the new track and plans for the future while having a fun time on air with OAPs Mannie and Shine, as well as Comedian Steve “Yaw” Onu.
During her appearance, she performed the acapella version of ‘Nonsense’ and explained the inspiration behind it. Waliyah is calling out “Okunrin Oshi” (Stupid men) and the song refers to the things they do. “It’s a feisty, light hearted song and not meant to be that serious.”
Waliyah just wanted to sing about what she sees happening in the society and the fact that there are lots of “no good” men in Nigeria getting away with cheating, infidelity and all sorts of bad behaviour!
She continues, “this song is for everyone, it has a nice beat but the lyrics are primarily with my ladies in mind.”
‘Nonsense’ was written by Waliyah and K9, it is produced by one of Nigeria’s top Producers- Leriq.
This will be the 3rd single from the singer/songwriter who had previously released two singles- “Ejekajo” (Produced by Mr. Chidoo) and “Shut It Down” (Produced by Tee Y Mix) with “Siwaju” (Produced by Sarz with official video shot by Clarence Peters). “Shut It Down” & “Siwaju” both share the same CD and where released together.
