SNOOP DOGG TO RELEASE GOSPEL ALBUM

Ask hip-hop artists like Chicago’s Chance the Rapper and G.O.O.D. Music leader Kanye West, and gospel music fits perfectly beside hip-hop like two peas in a pod.

So, yes, the existence of a gospel album from West Coast gangsta rap veteran and hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg can actually be a thing, and telling by his latest Instagram posts, it is.

Beginning with a text message he sent his mother, Snoop got the first greenlight for the album from her. The Long Beach native thanked her in advance for guiding his spirituality that will now be materialized through his first-ever gospel project. He also let her in on the news that he’s currently gearing the album up.

“Praise the Lord,” she responded. “You are very welcome. The more you share with others the more you will reap more benefits. The more the Lord will enlarge your territory and bless you indeed. I am so grateful to the Lord for you and how God is moving you in the direction to bless His people through the word of God.”

And since mama knows best, Snoop felt gracious enough to share a few snippets from the forthcoming album with his fans, and it’s definitely a listen for sore ears. From the brief Instagram clips of the album’s sneak peek, it’s also apparent that the 45-year-old rap icon and record producer didn’t abandon his acuity for infectious beats and rhythm-play.

While there’s no word on its title, release date or any help from the gospel music artist circle just yet, the project still sounds pretty solid so far.
