There is a saying that “Fashion and Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak!” Yeah, we concur!
ON Concept Wears, a clothing line owned by a young Nigerian is a bold definition of class, youth and elegance, innovation and style.
We caught up with the young fashion entrepreneur to tell us more about his brand and aspirations.
Below are excepts from the interview:
Glamsquad: Can we please meet you?
JS: I am James Samuel. A graduate of Mass Communication, Babcock University. I graduated June 2014. I am the CEO of ON Concept Wears. The clothing line is ON Concept Wears. ON Africa is a Subsidiary
Glamsquad: Where are you from?
JS: Ogun State, Ado-Odo, Ota.
Glamsquad: When did you start the clothing line?
JS: Started Business March 21, 2015 during my NYSC on Lagos.
Glamsquad: What was the inspiration behind the clothing line or the reason you started it?
JS: Truth be told, I have always wanted to learn how to print on shirts right from Senior Secondary School days but I didn’t take it serious until during my NYSC Orientation at Isehin, Oyo State. I learnt how to print on shirts while serving.
The inspiration behind the clothing line…. I had to challenge myself because some many people saw me as a failure. The word ON means Positivity, Alive and Strong.
Glamsquad: Why leave mass communication for fashion?
JB: Well, not sure I left Mass Communication. I believe apparels printing is also part of communicating as well. It’s still part of communication.
Glamsquad: You mean, you are taking mass communication from a different angle?
JS: Yes. I also do graphics too. I had to use it to communicate on apparels. I also worked as a graphic designer in a sport marketing company for 7 months but I didn’t feel fulfilled while working. I had to resign to fulfill my dreams
Glamsqad: What are your aspirations?
JS: My Aspiration is to produce wears for top organisations in Africa and also export our ready to wear apparels to other counties
Glamsquad: How much do your cloths cost?
JS: From N4,000 and above
Glamsquad: How has it been for you, as a young entrepreneur in Nigeria?
JS: Honestly, it has been challenging. But there is a high possibility that the future is bright. And I am sure ON Concept Wears and ON Africa can will be a well known brand in Nigeria and Africa at large
Glamsquad: What is your advice for Nigerian youths out there?
JS: You can be anything you want to be when you put your mind to it. It’s better to try and fail than not starting at all. Consistency is the key to Success. Nothing good comes easy. No Pain, No Gain.
