OMG Moments From Lagos Fashion Week 2018 Day 2

Lagos Fashion and Design Week Day 2 was amazing with lots of great brands showcasing. Personally have my favourite brands that really impressed me and obviously we all have some brands that didn’t really meet our expectation or to out it delicately their products didn’t float our boat. But this article isn’t about fashion. SHOCKER! Yes, this article is about the moments that had people gasping, the moments that you might have missed out if you left early or didn’t attend the event and while some media sites are being generic and focusing on looks on the runway I’m standing out by telling you other things that went down.

Let’s start with Ugo Monye’s collection. The cultural aesthetic in the presentation was good but what really had the ladies gasping and flicking their phones up during the menswear show was when Tobi Bakare, former Big Brother Housemate, the Yoruba demon and most people’s MCM, walked for Ugo Monye.

Another moment from the Lagos Fashion and Design Week Day 2 was after Sunny Rose collection, the artist Dija walked out and sang to introduce the audience to Maureen Nkem, Creative Director of Sunny Rose. Dija was singing, basically free styling without instrumentals and I must say her voice is lovely, this was because her track couldn’t play during the finale for some technical difficulty. Aside from Dija singing while Maureen Nkem walked out, I couldn’t help but notice Dija had a great walk on the runway. She strutted around that runway in Sunny Rose with so much bravado that you wouldn’t even realize there was a technical difficulty.

During Studio 189 collection, a model strolled down the runway carrying her baby. OMG he was beyond adorable. She spun around in her printed flared skirt and sneakers. The model then set the little boy down on the catwalk to dance with her. Sadly he threw his hands up and began crying. He certainly didn’t sign up for that. The little kid was alright as soon as he was carried though, this inspired a lot of “Aww” from the audience. It was a rare addition to the show and it warmed all our hearts.

Before I end this article, if you’re one of those who attend the event without an idea where the restroom is, fear no more, you don’t have to pee at the back of an enormous truck like I did. The toilet is pretty much hidden within the large space. Simply go to the front of the first tent, Right behind the truck selling food. There’s a mobile loo. If you get lost just be a friendly Nigerian and ask anyone you find around there. I thought it was necessary to add this as majority of those in attendant had no idea there was a restroom and I was fed false information a few times. You’re welcome.
