As part bringing creativity into the fashion and music industry, Music meets Runway organized its fourth edition of fashion and music show which took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In line with this year theme ‘The African Edition’, selected this year’s artistes from all around Africa to lighten up the atmosphere with their various styles of music and showcase of unique collections by different designers from African countries.
The artistic event was filled with over 500 gorgeously dressed guests from across the world, displayed their different creative ideas in African and contemporary fashion.
Celebrities attended the event such as: Toke Makinwa, Dakore, Noble Igwe, OC Ukeje, Lala, AkindojuDakore Akande, April by Kunbi designer Kunbi Oyelesi, Toke Makinwa, Emma Nyra, Victoria Kimani, Toyin Lawani, Caroline Dajuma to mention but a few selected fashion designers showcased their latest collection alongside the artistes performed on stage such as: Neville Masondo (South Africa), KolaKuddus Couture (Nigeria), Osei Duro (Ghana), Sunny Rose (Nigeria), Mademoiselle Aglaia (Nigeria), KikoRomeo (Kenya), Cynthia Morgan, Seyi Shay, Sauti Sol, Efya, Mpumi, Patoranking.
According to organizers of the event, “Fashion and Music has created a style storm around the globe. The innovation, ‘Music Meets Runway’ is intended to provide a platform for talented designers, especially those who normally are excluded from the highly competitive world of fashion to showcase their unique art works while talented music artists perform on stage”.
HIGHLIGHTS
The event opened with artistic performance by dance troupe for Music Meets Runway 2014, brought cultures together through and display of different African dance and costumes created an awareness about what the event was all about.
All the designers showcased lovely pieces from their collections which portrayed African cultures through their designs amazed every one at the event. Highlight of the show were performances by award winning Ghanaian and Nigerian Artistes Efya, Ice Prince and Dj Cuppy wowed the guests who danced to every beat of all their songs.
FLAWS OF THE EVENT
The event which was scheduled to hold by 8pm started by 11pm, some of the guests could not wait till the end of the show.
Speaking briefly with a guest at the event pleaded anonymity said that “Rating all the performances and organisation of Music Meets Runway, it was the best fashion and music show I have ever attended in Nigeria, However the organizers should learn to keep to time”.
It was no doubt Music meets Runway 2014 was the best music and fashion in Nigeria. The event was supported by: Le RevePieces, G.H.MUMM Champagne, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Union Bank, Beat FM, Spice TV, MTV Base, Africa Magic, Style Vitae & Style Me Africa.
