It seems just like yesterday when we heard the sad news of Dbanj and Don Jazzy breakup which was the end of the Mo hits era.
After the dust settled Don Jazzy announced the name of his new record label as “Mavin” which included some artists from former Mo hits records and a new member Tiwa Savage. After that was the exit of Wande Coal whose single “the kick” was one of the flag off singles for the record label.
Then Tiwa Savage was a big hit with “Eminado”, Dr Sid topped the charts with “Surulere”. Don Jazzy added three youngsters Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Dija to the label and they flagged off the new empire with “Dorobucci” and then the rest is history.
I salute Don Jazzy and the crew on this achievement. For giving it another go after the first breakup and end (which isn’t easy to do) and also being the inspiration and engine behind the Nigerian hits we have today. Cheers!
