HIGHLIGHTS OF LFDW 2015 DAY 2

Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture had the opening slot for Day 2 .True to his quirky style, the Orange Culture collection embraced vibrant colours and unusual styles but it was still on point . Akpos Okudu showed us the flirty feminine in a well embellished , dreamy and fairy tale collection of blush tones and light floral pieces , the collection was one of the highlights of the night.

Moofa ‘s “Labalaba” which translates to “butterfly” in the Yoruba language, lived up to its name. Each piece paid homage to the flying insect with soft hues and some sprayed with paint

Orente Ayaba did a wonderful job showcasing at the New York Fashion Week as well as the London Fashion Week. Her customised LAGOS print fabric was just yellow and black shades of beautiful . the light bulb earrings reminded me of Lagos nights

Ravemap showcased its “The Tempest” collection for Autumn/Winter 2015/16. The collection, filled with print pieces, floral embellishments, bows, and luxe embroidery. Loved the French Renaissance and mixed and matched fabrics.Ivorian designer, Loza Máleombho, gave us a dose of tribal aesthetics mixed with structured detailing, fringe trimmings and sexy cut-outs in Spring/Summer 2016 collection – “Zaouli”.  Fayrouz’s Team Meddlelane put out quite the collection at the Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week. Meddlelane gave us the pop of colour we had been waiting for all night. They went for bold colours with bold lips.

The House of Marie Spring/Summer 2016 ‘Life and Times of Her’ collection was inspired by several things including the National Theatre in Lagos, abstract paintings, floral photographs and some interesting black and white shots.

And it was It’s time for Maki Oh! and every part of the hall went lit with excitement

With Gozel Green, it’s always a time to tell a story and this year they told us the story of “Marching to Kilimanjaro”

with Ethereal designs, soft hues, underlying embellishments in the shape of bugs, frayed floral attachments, sheer coverings and inspiration from the Frieze London art gallery – the Onalaja collection was a new air.

Fashion Focus , Chechi Arinze, iola, Vedel & Wanger Ayu were certainly Avant grade from Day 1’s focus.
