EYELASHES – Extensions, Strips, Individuals or the Real Deal

Eyelashes are hairs that grow from the edge of the eyelids and serve to protect the eyes from foreign bodies/debris. They are also sensitive to touch and movement sort of like the whiskers on a cat so they can sense when dust or insects are nearby prompting the eyes to close reflexively.

I have the shortest eyelashes ever! I had worn extensions at some point but couldn’t deal with the maintenance. Volumizing mascara did nothing for me either so I have had to resort to wearing strip lashes when I want to look glam. Not everyone is blessed with will long lashes so faking it is good! They complete your makeup look and enhance your eyes. The most popular application is to the upper eyelids. Bottom lashes are also available but I haven’t tried them yet. Bottom lashes do add a new dimension of drama to the eyes so I think I will get me a pair.

You can use strips or individuals to enhance your eyes. It took me a while to learn how apply strips and it was nothing short of a nightmare! I would more often than not end up messing up my eye shadow and getting ready late!! My lashes are very short and curly and curl back to touch my eyelids. What I do is apply mascara first to sort of stretch them out then I apply. Please use Eyelash Glue to apply your lashes and NOT Hair Bonding Glue!
False lashes became very popular in the late 1950s and ‘60s and materials used to make them ranged from affordable synthetic materials to the more expensive mink, human hair, sable and seal. Early Parisians had hair sewn into eyelids (Ouch!) – Sort of a hair transplant.
Individual eyelash extensions are Semi Permanent and the strong adhesive often used contains cyanoacrylate.

Eyelash extensions are waterproof and lashes look like they are coated with Mascara. They come in various lengths, types, colors, thicknesses and curve patterns that range from natural-looking to Glam and Dramatic. Individual false lashes are applied to each natural lash making sure the lash glue does not touch the eyelid. The bond is strong enough to last until the lash falls out naturally, the period of natural growth and shedding is about 3 to 4 weeks. Take note that using oil-based eye makeup removers weakens the bond between the lash and glue so extensions will fall out earlier than expected. To keep lashes on longer, avoid wearing mascara and rubbing your eyes. Make sure you use oil-free makeup removers. The Lashes need to be refilled bi-monthly to keep them full and flattering.

There are eyelash growth serums that strengthen and grow the lashes when used regularly. My favourite is The ZO Skin Health Ossential Lash Enhancing Serum which I dispense. It’s a good idea to use this product if you wear false lashes too.

  1. I absolutely love this product. It was delivered very fast and the packaging it came in was so cute. I started using it and after a couple weeks I saw a major improvement. My eyelashes are pretty weak due to using false eyelashes & dermal md eyelash growth serum definitely helped them get back to being big and beautiful. And I have not had any allergic reaction or anything to irritate my eyes. Definitely recommend❤️✅❤️
