The Africa Fashion Week London has come and gone leaving in its wake trends that will be hot this and next season. From a fresh perspective on shirting to art and fringe, see this season’s 2014’s chicest trends as seen on AFWL 2014 runway.
1. Fringe Festival
The fringe is making a return, and it’s not coming back quietly. Worn as neck accents, on skirts, and headdresses, this fringe effect is certainly proving its versatility.
2. Metallics
For this season are more high shine lamé than subdued matte.
3. Gathers and pleats
voluminous skirts and dresses was given the high fashion treatment for the season. The resulting looks have a more mature focus, metallic midis to— flowing gowns.
4. Wearable works of arts
Wear your museum-worthy works on a dress come 2015. With inspiration from Erwin Michalec the pattern here is suitable for real way and galleries for the artistically inclined.
6. Hyper colour
Bright colours were so cleverly demonstrated.
7. Lace embrace
it is obvious the lace is here to stay as designers are ever so creative with this romantic piece. its has been around foir some years and will remain here for long.
8. colour block
Big, bold and beautiful colour blocking was on the runway with designers showing trendy ways to make it work.
9. Head Wraps
The traditional Nigerian gele and other head wraps were given a new twist for a more contemporary look.
10. Sheer
From exposed shoulders to see-through gowns, AFWL 2014 offered some revealing looks from the runway. These looks are probably strictly for the runways.
