THE MIDI SKIRT

We’ve had our fair style share of the mini skirt and the maxi skirt. Now it’s time to enjoy the midi skirt which is an original 70s inspired style. Ending anywhere from just above the knee to a few inches above the ankle, the midi skirt is this season easy to style piece.

The midi skirt style can come in fitted straight cut or flared A-line style; it’s great for both day to night time pairings. However, wearing the midi skirt requires tact. If it’s too short for your height or size, you could look squat; if it’s too long for your height or size, it could consume you. It’s also important to note that in pairing a midi skirt, you should pay attention to your proportions. Making sure that whatever you wear on your upper half isn’t billowy.

Here are a few things to consider when wearing a midi skirt.

Height

If you’re short, the length of a midi skirt should preferably hit below the knee. If you’re tall, the length of a midi skirt should hit right at the fullness of the calf.

Size

If you’re on the slim side especially if you have a small waist line, the right style of midi should be one with a low waist band or at the navel. If you have a fuller figure and a larger waist line, go for a high-waist midi skirt.

Perfect Pairings

If you wear a bold coloured midi, pair with neutral blouse. Paying attention to your proportions is important in pairing for a midi skirt. A fitted top is however preferable to pair with a midi.
