Sarah Jessica Parker’s shoe line, SJP Collection, has been around for just a year and a half, and the brand already has a sell-out style on its hands.
On Friday, the Tartt Mary Jane shoe in Scintillate — an iridescent colorway — became available on NeimanMarcus.com exclusively after selling out in five hours two weeks prior on the Zappos Couture website.
Aside from one lone size 35, the style sold out on Neiman Marcus’ site in an hour and 45 minutes. That size 35 was snapped up on Saturday morning.
What does SJP herself think of the Tartt frenzy?
“Having now been in the marketplace for [a year and a half], I know far better how rare and therefore how exciting it is to have a response like we have experienced with our SJP Collection Tartt in Scintillate,” she told Footwear News.
Parker said when the Tartt samples first arrived from Italy, she had a feeling that it would be great in the brand’s Scintillate colorway.
“However, just because I love a shoe doesn’t always equal selling out in hours — twice,” she says. “This sort of success only makes us want to stay focused on what we love, what excites us, and to do our best to get these ideas to our retail partners. And then, of course, we wait and see.”
